General Funding Guidelines
I. Application Requirements
Freelance, professional artists of all disciplines, as well as curators and art coordinators, are eligible to apply for a scholarship.
Students enrolled in a university or academy are not eligible to apply.
Eligible applicants must have their primary residence in Germany or in a Baltic Sea neighboring country such as Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, or Iceland at the time of application.
There is no age limit for the award of a scholarship.
Proof of health insurance is a requirement for non-EU scholarship recipients.
Proficiency in German and/or English is required.
Reapplication for former scholarship recipients is only possible five years after receiving a previous scholarship. This exclusion period does not apply to scholarships for artist groups and curatorial scholarships.
II. Type, Scope, and Amount of the Scholarship
These are residency scholarships at Künstlerhaus Lukas in Ahrenshoop or at partner institutions. It is expected that scholarship recipients spend at least two-thirds of their scholarship period on-site.
Künstlerhaus Lukas has 6 studios. Due to the constraints of the historic building, the studios are typically designed for one person in terms of size and amenities. However, Künstlerhaus Lukas will make efforts to temporarily accommodate life partners and/or children, as agreed upon individually.
Scholarships at Künstlerhaus Lukas are Flex Scholarships: residency periods can range from 14 days to 3 months; for international partners, the scholarship duration is currently fixed at one month.
In addition to the free stay (including electricity, water, heating), individual scholarship recipients receive a monthly stipend of €1,200, subject to the availability of budgetary resources.
Artist groups receive an additional €600 for their 14-day free stay (for a maximum of four participants) and a performance fee of up to €600 (for performances within the "Lange Nacht der Kunst" format).
Additional material, travel, or transportation costs cannot be covered.
Scholarship recipients can work in the in-house print workshop. Additionally, they have access to the library and technical equipment upon agreement.
